ICI Magnum RT Truck Steps
If you’re in the market for some killer step bars, ICI has a product for you: Magnum RT Steps.
Constructed with 10 gauge steel, the steps are heavy duty and designed to take a beating and then some. Reinforced mounting brackets make these steps twice as strong as standard truck side steps. And after we installed them on a company Ford F-150 pickup last year, we noted that they also hang down 3 more inches than most stock step bars, providing easier entry and exit into your vehicle. So if you’re concerned about your big boot fitting onto this drop step, you can let those fears slide right on off you cause you’re good to go. Let me tell you, we checked.
When it comes to step bars, you want a product that is strong and will withstand the elements. Magnum RT Steps come equipped with non-slip diamond tread step pads that grip your boot. And they are slotted so that snow and mud and any precipitation just drains right off.
ICI utilizes a three-stage powder coat finish in matte black, which protects the steel from corrosion and physical scrapes and dings. This hot rolled and cold finished process makes the recrystallization temperature of most types of steel even more useful for us as aftermarket enthusiasts. In other words, these babies are tougher than your typical steel and can withstand both high and cold temperatures, so no matter where you are in the world, you know your ICI steps are going to be able to handle whatever that climate throws at them and then some.
Install is easy, requires no drilling, as the steps mount directly to your lower rocker using factory holes.
And the tread plate is designed to be large enough to support even the biggest of feet. Even Big Country himself gives these steps a thumbs up and two big boots off in approval. And the aluminum diamond plate step pad is easy to clean too. Talk about the best of both worlds--great traction, easy cleaning.
Finally, ICI is based right here in the US of A, down in Peoria, Arizona. And they cover their high grade products with a Limited Lifetime Structural Warranty, and a 1 Year Finish Warranty. Gotta love US based companies that stand behind their products.
Looking for a step bar that is durable and will stand out in the crowd? Look no further than ICI Magnum RT Step Bars. They’re sold in pairs, cause you need one for each side of your truck.
Why You Need Steps Bars on your Truck or Jeep
I can already hear it, likely cause it's in the back of my head. Do I really need step bars on my truck? I was once there, with that thought racking my brain.
First, I’m not super manly, but manly enough to know that if I need help up into my vehicle, something’s gone wrong. Maybe my knees are getting bad. I’m getting older all the time. Or perhaps I’ve lifted my vehicle an inch too far outta my comfort zone.
I don’t want to point any fingers here, cause honestly, we have all been there or will be someday. But so many of our customers, heck, even myself included, have told us stories about how they were skeptical at first about the whole step bar and running board thing.
Alright, I admit it. I have an issue asking for help. So when it came to getting an ICI Magnum RT step installed on my truck, I made a few excuses. I blamed it first on my wife.
She’s not the tallest of women, and my truck does ride pretty high. So I told myself--and my friends--I was picking up a set of Magnum steps from ICI so my wife could get into my truck easier. It was only a little bit of a white lie, just a slight exaggeration.
With my co-workers, I told them it was all about research and the company. I mean, this is one of our top selling step bars. We should have a pair to install on one of our vehicles. We should put them to the test and do a full install for our customers. We can even put it up on YouTube--see the video above in the Video tab.
But here’s the truth: I just like the way these nerf steps look.
I said it. I laid it out. God’s honest truth. Scout’s honor.
I’m in the industry. I see a lot of steps, everyday. And the truth is, there’s just something about these ICI Magnum RT steps. I can’t tell you if it’s the angular design, the way they sit on my rocker panels, or what exactly. But it’s something. And I like it, whatever it is.
So I ordered up a set, and we installed them in house. First, the install was super simple. So easy, even a Kyle could probably do it, if you read the instructions out loud to him, that is.
And once they were installed, I was super happy with the way they looked on my truck. Honestly, these steps would look great on a Chevy Silverado, a Ford F-150, or even a Dodge Ram 1500. And I’ve even seen them on a Jeep Wrangler, and while I’m not the biggest Jeep guy, I do like the look of them a lot.
These babies look great on pretty much every application I’ve seen so far, and I guess it’s just that distinct look that ICI designed. The option waterproof LED light kit doesn’t hurt any either.
So they are pleasing to the eye. Great. So what?
Well, beyond all that, while I tried to push them off on my wife and my job, that I didn’t really want any steps for my pickup, now that I have them, I just don’t know how I ever got along without them.
Not only do these steps look great on my truck, but they are extremely useful. I never really thought I needed a step up into my cab, but now that I have them, I can’t imagine going back. Getting in and out is so much easier, and my foot naturally goes to the step pad every time.
I’ve got a baby boy, so when I go to load him into his car seat in the back seat of my crew cab, I find that having that step plate there makes it so much easier. And unlike some other nerf steps out there, I never feel like I’m gonna slip off or like there isn’t enough room for me to step up on them.
At the end of the day, while I tried to play it off on just about everyone else but myself, I’m super pleased to say that I love my ICI Magnum RT steps. And if I ever get another vehicle and am in the market for steps, I’ll probably stick with ICI, cause their products just feel stronger and more durable than a lot of the other similar steel products on the market today. I guess that’s just the difference between cheap steel and cold rolled 10 gauge steel. Regardless, I’m not going back, and I’m pleased to be a Magnum RT guy for life.
Maybe I’ll pickup a matching bumper next and blame it on the company or my wife or just added safety? Yeah, we’ll see if I can pull that one off.
