    Edge Revolver Performance Chip and Switch for 1995 - 2003 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke Diesels

    There’s nothing worse than not reaching your full potential. And no, I’m not your seventh grade math teacher. I’m an aftermarket guy, probably just like you. I’m talking about your truck, here, man! And whether you’re rocking a brand new 2020 Ford Superduty or a classic 1995 7.3L Power Stroke, you’ve got a lot of potential you can still reach.

    These diesel engines have so much horsepower and torque locked away that it really is a shame. But unless you can unlock that full potential and horsepower, you’re stuck in stock. And for a lot of us, the idea of a full PCM swap just sounds like a real drag and a lot of work.

    So Edge came along with their Revolver Performance Chip and Switch. This 6 Position Dial can be used to program your engine and even switch the power levels on the fly.

    And you don’t even have to do any PCM / ECM swap to do it. All you need is to get the correct Master Box code for your vehicle.

    Now before you go all, what’s a Master Box Code on me, let me explain.

    Every few years or so Ford would switch up their ECM Master Code. These are three letter codes, sometimes followed by a digit. You don’t really need to know that. What you do need to know is the year of your vehicle.

    There are different codes, and hence different Revolver models, that you’ll need to tune your particular ECU / ECM.

    If you put in the proper year, make, and model above, you will get the perfect Revolver for your Ford diesel. But just to break it all down for you, the big determinant on which Master Code you need has to do with your year and whether you’ve got an automatic transmission or a manual. And some Revolvers might work with several Master Codes as well, but don’t assume your buddy’s old Revolver from his 1995 Ford Power Stroke is gonna work on your 1997 diesel.

    So let’s break it all down for you.

    Which Master Box Code Do I Need?

    Well, there are a few different ways. The first two and most accurate / easy is to just go look at your sticker on your Driver’s Side Kick Panel or the ECM itself.

    Try the sticker first, which should be located behind the Driver’s Side Kick Panel. Find the black plug with a sticker on it which will show you the ECU code. If there’s no sticker there, you’re gonna have to check the PCM.

    For the ECM, this does involve either removing the ECM from your truck or getting a mirror and doing a little bit of acrobatics. I kid, but it is kinda a pain in the a$$. We recommend you get a telescopic mirror for this.

    Next pop the hood and locate your ECM. It should be directly below your master cylinder on the firewall (or the part of the truck that separates the engine compartment from the cab where you sit). The sticker will be on the connector which should be about 2 inches from the driver’s side fender on the firewall. The side of the connector facing towards the fender should have a sticker on it. It may have a few letters and number combinations on it, but the one you’re looking for will likely be the largest and should be three letters followed by one single digit number. For example: XLE4 or PMT2 or VDH4.

    You need to give this code to the dealer who is burning your chip or buy a preprogrammed chip for your ECM code or box code family.

    Some makes and models made in particular years only have one PCM code, so you could just try to look it up using a handy table like the one you’ll find here. (https://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/9497faq/geninfo/pcmcodes.php3)

    The Install

    Once you have the proper Revolver in hand, install is super easy. Just make sure you don’t have your keys in your truck’s ignition. Locate your ECU. Now open the “J” port, the one on the side of your ECM. Use the provided alcohol wipe and scrubby pad to clean the port up. You need that baby to be pretty darn spotless to make sure you get a good connection.

    Next, hook your chips switch up to the chip itself. Insert the chip over the exposed electronics port on the ECM. Run the wire to the side then cover the port with the sticker (the 4x4 one) to make sure the ECM doesn’t get any dust into it.

    Run the cord for the Switch dial to the desired location and mount that sucker up. Now you’re ready to roll! Tune that Power Stroke to your heart's content!
